In the Simpson Desert there are a total of 280 different species of plant from 75 different families. 44% of the Simpson Deserts plants of the are from 4 different families these are Poaceae (grasses), Chenopodiaceae ( saltbushses and bluebushes), Asteraceae (daisies or composites), Fabaceae (with pea-like flowers).
The Simpson Desert has very harsh conditions for plants to grow.
Acacia, it has a waxy, short and rounded leaves. The shrub is dense and compacted.
Parrot Bush, also called the Crotalaria Cunninghamii. They grow along the eastern facing slopes of sand dunes in this desert. They show a narrow yellowish-green flowers during its blooming season.
